Director Robert Rodriguez has created countless films since he began his career with acclaimed indie El Mariachi back in 1992. That filmed ultimately evolved into a trilogy with Antonio Banderas taking over the lead role, and the director has also delivered the Spy Kids, Machete and Sin City movie franchises.

However, Rodriguez had never attempted a television series until now. This spring, he’s launching his El Rey network, and its first original program is none other than a series adaptation of one of his more underrated big-screen projects, the 1996 action/horror film From Dusk Till Dawn. That film – which was a collaboration with Quentin Tarantino, who wrote the script – starred George Clooney and Tarantino as brothers and criminals on the run to Mexico.
