Director Jon M. Chu recently revealed that he had to back out of "Masters of the Universe," the He-Man franchise reboot at Universal Pictures, back in October due to his "G.I. Joe 3" commitments.

Now, Schmoes Know has published an apparent short list of potential directors that the studio has reportedly compiled. The names on that list include:

Rian Johnson ("Looper"), Joe Cornish ("Attack the Block"), Andres Muschietti ("Mama"), Phil Lord and Chris Miller ("21 Jump Street") and Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders ("The Croods").

This live-action film version of the toy line and animated series follows the warrior He-Man, the last hope for the magical land of Eternia which has been ravaged by the evil Skeletor.

At last report, scribe Terry Rossio ("The Lone Ranger") came onboard the project late last year to pen a new draft of the script. »
