David Fincher's upcoming movie adaptation of the best-selling novel Gone Girl will have a different ending than the book.

Based on Gillian Flynn's highly-acclaimed novel, the movie tells the story of the dysfunctional marriage between a man and his missing wife.

Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike star in the film along with Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Flynn revealed that the movie will have an entirely new third act which will differ greatly from the book's controversial ending.

"Ben [Affleck] was so shocked by it," Flynn recalled. "He would say, 'This is a whole new third act! She literally threw that third act out and started from scratch'."
