Tom Hardy and fiancée Charlotte Riley were among the stars to attend the Moët British Independent Film Awards in London last night (December 8).

Hardy was nominated for Best Actor for his role in Locke, but lost out to James McAvoy, who picked up the award for his lead in Irvine Welsh's Filth.

Winners on the night also included Imogen Poots for Best Supporting Actress in The Look of Love, Ben Mendelsohn for Supporting Actor in Starred Up, and Lindsay Duncan for Best Actress in Le Week-End.

Sean Ellis's Metro Manila, based on a family who flee the rice fields of the Philippines to start a new life in Manila, was the big winner of the night, picking up Best Director, Best Achievement in Production and Best British Independent Film.
