The first family was joined by a few famous faces for the annual national Christmas tree lighting ceremony outside the White House on Friday. Following a series of holiday performances, President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and their girls took the stage to address the crowd as the tree was lit, all smiles despite the rain during a picture-perfect moment. While speaking, Obama took a moment to remember Nelson Mandela, mentioning "a special measure of gratitude" for the former South African president who passed away earlier this week. At the event, Michelle also spent some solo time in the spotlight to read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas to kids with one of Sesame Street's puppets, and there were several performances including appearances by Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Janelle Monae, The Avett Brothers, and more.
