Fox 2000 Buys Ecuador Drug Trafficking Pitch (Exclusive)

Fox 2000 has bought a pitch from Chernin Entertainment and screenwriter Patrick Aison that is based on an NPR report about drug trafficking in Ecuador.

Chernin will produce, with Aison penning the script. David Ready is overseeing for Chernin.

The November 2013 report “How the Government Set Up a Fake Bank to Launder Drug Money” revolved around U.S. federal agents — one from the IRS, the other from the DEA — who created a fake offshore bank that was used to catch drug traffickers.

Hollywood has always been intrigued by the drug trafficking milieu (“Traffic,” “Blow”) and that interest continues, with this pic joining others in development including Paramount’s “Cocaine Cowboys” with Mark Wahlberg attached to star.

Aison is repped by ICM Partners and Dmg Entertainment.
