Michael Benaroya (“Margin Call”) has come on board to develop the spy thriller “Sentinel,” optioning the Matthew Dunn novel that’s part of the author’s “Spycatcher” series.

Benaroya will produce through his Benaroya Pictures. Story centers on an MI6 agent who meets Sentinel, the code-name for his predecessor. Sentinel is managing a network of high-level Russian spies who are being killed off one by one while Russian nationalists are trying to cause war.

Dunn was an MI6 field officer who recruited and ran agents, coordinated and participated in special operations and acted in deep-cover roles throughout the world. He conducted over 70 missions before becoming a novelist.

Benaroya announced in September that his banner would finance post-apocalyptic thriller “Z for Zachariah,” shooting in January and starring Chris Pine, Amanda Seyfried and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Based on the Robert O’Brien novel, that story follows a teenage girl who lives alone on »
