Charlie Brooker has said that comedians such as Russell Brand and Robert Webb debating political issues has only become a big deal because "nobody is particularly interested in what politicians have to say".

The 10 O'Clock Show presenter and Black Mirror writer said that he wasn't sure where he stood on the topics that Brand and Webb had discussed, but said that the amount of coverage their comments had earned raised a bigger issue for politicians.

"I don't have anything against anyone sharing their opinions. I don't quite know where I stand on all of that debate. I probably agree and disagree with everyone. That's the most fence-sitting nonsense it's possible to say" said Brooker.
