The story behind the making of much-admired cult classic The Princess Bride is to be told in a memoir to be written by the film's lead actor, Cary Elwes.

As You Wish: Tales From the Princess Bride apparently arose from Elwes' enjoyment of a 25th-anniversary screening of the film at the New York film festival in 2012.

The book will include Elwes's recollections of his time on the set, along with interviews with key collaborators such as Billy Crystal, Robin Wright, Carol Kane, Christopher Guest and writer William Goldman.

"It will be great fun to revisit The Princess Bride and to share my fond memories of the unforgettable experience we all had," Elwes said in a statement.
