After Universal Pictures was able to turn "Fast and Furious" into a billion dollar franchise, other studios took notice. DreamWorks immediately got to work on a "Need for Speed" movie, which is based on a popular video game. And now comes word that Sony Pictures is moving forward with a "Gran Turismo" movie, based on another popular racing video game. Sony just hired "Watchmen" writer Alex Tse to put together a script and is hoping to begin casting soon. Michael De Luca, Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti, who teamed for "Captain Phillips," are production. "Gran Turismo" is one of the biggest franchises on the PlayStation console, with sales in the $60 million to $70 million range. But since there are no specific storylines, Tse will have to come up with an original story that captures the feel of the game. »
