Paramount has released the first clip from Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street as they have started scheduling screenings in New York and Los Angeles in anticipation of a dirty little awards battle of the coming months and a Christmas Day release date. Based on Jordan Belfort's tell-all autobiography, The Wolf of Wall Street centers on Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio), a Long Island penny stockbroker who served 20 months in prison for refusing to cooperate in a massive 1990s securities fraud case that involved widespread corruption on Wall Street and in the corporate banking world, including mob infiltration. Along with DiCaprio the film co-stars Matthew McConaughey, Jonah Hill, Kyle Chandler, Margot Robbie, Jon Favreau, Rob Reiner, Jean Dujardin, Pj Byrne and Kenneth Choi. In a recent interview with The Playlist, screenwriter Terence Winter described as something akin to Scorsese's Goodfellas for the stockbroker set saying, "It is very much in that vein. »
