FX orders 13 episodes of Guillermo del Toro's The Strain

Get excited. 13 episodes of Guillermo del Toro's new supernatural drama, The Strain, are coming to FX...

FX has declared it so: The Strain, based on the book trilogy by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, is coming to television for at least thirteen episodes (encouragingly, FX boss John Landgraf is already talking about forty-seventy instalments arranged into at least five seasons being the long-term plan). 

Not one to hang about, del Toro had the entire first season was already written before the pilot went into production, meaning that filming can begin on episodes two to thirteen in Toronto later this month. The Pan's Labyrinth and Pacific Rim director will stay on as executive producer, while Lost's Carlton Cuse heads up showrunning duties.

The trilogy sees a group of scientists battling a rare viral strain that causes vampirism in those it infects. The
