Exclusive: Qed International arrives at Afm with worldwide rights to the noir thriller Strange But True starring Imogen Poots, Bill Paxton and Melissa Leo.

Alex and David Pastor will direct based on John Searles’ novel about a young woman who discovers she is pregnant with her boyfriend’s child even through her partner died five years earlier in tragic circumstances. Evan Peters also stars.

Principal photography is earmarked for spring 2014. Fred Berger produces alongside Adrian Guerra, Christina Piovesan, Alex Lalonde and Darryn Welch.

The executive producer roster includes Ross Katz, John Penotti, Tim Williams and Brian Kornreich.

Qed’s Afm slate includes Tom Hardy in Takashi Miike’s Yakuza thriller The Outsider, Peter Billingsley’s Term Life with Vince Vaughn and Hailee Steinfeld as well as Jason Bateman starring opposite Nicole Kidman in his sophomore directorial outing, The Family Fang.
