Lee announced the castings Tuesday, the day before the fundraising effort concludes. The project topped its $1.25 million goal on Aug. 16 and has received $1,357,444 from 6,158 pledges as of 4 p.m. Pdt for a new film that’s known for now as “The Newest Hottest Spike Lee Joint.”

Lee has only described the film as being focused on human beings who are addicted to blood. “Funny, sexy, and bloody (and it’s not ‘Blacula’),” he said at the time of the campaign launch.
