Darren Aronofsky is reportedly interested in adapting Jason Matthews's novel Red Sparrow for cinema.

The filmmaker is lining up the espionage thriller as his next project following next year's Noah, according to Deadline.

Red Sparrow follows Russian intelligence officer Dominika Egorova, an agent who is forced to become a trained seductress to keep tabs on a young CIA officer named Nathaniel Nash.

Dominika begins to live a dangerous double existence after a forbidden romance between the two characters develops.

Garrett Basch and Steve Zaillian are attached to produce the adaptation, but a potential release window is yet to be set.

Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly and Logan Lerman will star in Aronofsky's Noah, which is slated for release on March 28, 2014.
