Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep have been set to star in romance-drama “The Good House” with FilmNation Entertainment and De Niro’s Tribeca banner producing.

Producers are Tribeca’s Jane Rosenthal with FilmNation’s Aaron Ryder and Karen Lunder. CAA is repping domestic rights.

Story, based on Ann Leary’s novel “The Good House,” is being adapted by Michael Cunningham.

Streep will portray a New England realtor who re-kindles her relationship with a man (De Niro) who tries to make her life less complicated.  Streep and De Niro starred in 1978′s “The Deer Hunter,” 1984′s “Falling In Love” and 1996′s “Marvin’s Room.”

Berry Welsh will exec produce with FilmNation partner Steve Samuels.

The Deadline.com site first reported De Niro and Streep coming on board. »
