Warner Bros. will release an extended edition of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” starting in October, that features 13 minutes of additional footage in the film and nine hours of bonus content.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will make the new cut of the Peter Jackson-directed film available as a digital download on Oct. 22, and on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD on Nov. 5. All will include UltraViolet. Film is a co-production between New Line Cinema and MGM.

Release is timed with the Dec. 13 bow of “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.”
