Alec Baldwin has revealed that he turned down a role in a Marvel movie.

However, the Blue Jasmine star would not be drawn on which character he was asked to play.

Speaking on The Howard Stern Show, Baldwin said: "I have [been offered a role in a superhero movie], but I won't mention which one.

"I don't want to undo somebody because they hired someone else to do it. But they asked me to play a villain in one of these Marvel Comics movies."

When asked why he passed on the part, the 55-year-old actor added: "I wasn't available. They wanted me to work a certain time. And because of my wife's pregnancy, I had to turn down two films this summer that I wanted to do."

Baldwin is currently promoting Woody Allen's latest film Blue Jasmine, in which he stars alongside Cate Blanchett, Louis Ck, Sally Hawkins, Bobby Cannavale, Andrew Dice Clay and Peter Sarsgaard.
