Monsters University” still has its “A” game at the box office.

The animation stayed in first place for the second straight weekend after fending off two newcomers to the box office. The prequel did earned a $46.2 million, a decrease of 44 percent from the previous weekend. In its 10-day total for release, it earned $171 million. But, it may have trouble with another animation out this week with “Despicable Me 2.”

As for Paul Feig’s ‘The Heat,” it started off strong with an estimated $40 million in second place. According to Box Office Mojo, it is Sandra Bullock’s biggest opening more than the “The Blind Side at $34.1 million. It also beat Melissa McCarthy’s biggest opening from “Identity Thief” at $34.6 million. And it did much better than Feig’s previous film “Bridesmaids” at $26.2 million.

Now it looks like ‘White House Down’ has fallen.
