Major Crimes is a spin-off of The Closer, which starred Kyra Sedgwick as the strangely amusing yet efficacious and insidious Brenda Johnson, but in the first season the new series breaks ground and moves out from under Brenda.s shadow thanks to its incredible ensemble cast of characters. Still smarting from Brenda.s less than graceful departure, the Major Crimes team is now run by Lt. Provenza (the incredible G. W.
