While the pacing lags a bit towards the middle, Dark Skies is an increasingly suspenseful sci-fi thriller that works well with its small budget and limited effects. Like many recent thrillers (such as Insidious), the movie does a great job creating a creepy atmosphere that slowly sucks the audience in, but runs off the rails by the end.
