Monsters University managed to hold off both new releases at the box office this weekend and kept the top spot with $46.1 million. The latest movie from Pixar has earned $171 million since opening last weekend. In second place was The Heat with $40 million. With a production budget of only $43 million, Fox should be very happy with the movie’s performance.
The big news for us this weekend is World War Z performance at the box office. It became the highest grossing zombie movie in the Us this week and has earned $259 million worldwide since opening. The movie should continue to have decent ticket sales over the next few weeks and Paramount is already moving forward with a sequel.
White House Down disappointed with $25.7 million and took fourth place. The movie carried a $150 million production budget and will have a difficult time earning that back during its theatrical release. Next week sees »
