Taking an aggressive strategy on a key franchise, Universal has set seventh “Fast and Furious” movie for release on July 14, 2014 — even though it hasn’t opened the sixth “Fast” yet.

“The next one, which is probably going to be the biggest one of all, is going to be in theaters on July, 11, 2014,” franchise front man Vie Diesel made the announcement Tuesday morning at the studio’s presentation at CinemaCon at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.

The presentations included 20 minutes of action footage from “Fast and Furious 6,” due out May 24. Diesel, who also produces along with Neil Moritz, had hinted about a seventh installment by saying that the cast has been planning “two or three films” ahead when it’s working on a film.
