Christopher Nolan will not produce Warner Bros' Justice League.

It was rumoured last month that the Dark Knight trilogy director – who also produced the upcoming Man of Steel – was in negotiations with Warner Bros to take complete control of the DC cinematic universe.

But Warner president Jeff Robinov has now confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Nolan will not be involved with Justice League.

It has also been confirmed that Christian Bale will not reprise his role as Batman for the planned ensemble movie.

Producer Chris Roven recently suggested that Man of Steel will "set the tone" for future DC Comics adaptations.

Nolan's next sci-fi project Interstellar will reunite him with The Dark Knight Rises' Anne Hathaway, while Matthew McConaughey will play the lead role.
