The BBC has denied accusations that The Voice UK coaches have been abandoning their acts ahead of the live shows.

The show's four mentors had been accused of focusing on their own careers at the expense of tutoring their chosen finalists.

"It's ridiculous to suggest the coaches haven't spent enough time coaching their artists. Viewers will see as the shows progress [that] all four spent a great deal of time with their acts," a BBC spokesperson told The Sun.

An insider claimed that contestants had been left on their own, saying: "It's a bit of a sham and very disheartening for anyone who has gone through the gruelling audition process and battle rounds and now finds they're on their own until the judges return."

The source also alleged that due to the production schedule and coaches' personal recording and touring commitments, acts are unlikely to see their mentors again until just before the live shows begin. »
