The G.I. Joe franchise is getting the trilogy treatment, Variety reported Monday. Paramount, however, had no official comment on any plans for a third film.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation — the second installment in the successful franchise — came out of the gates strong this past weekend, earning an estimated $41.2 million domestically, and $80.3 million in foreign box office thanks in part to the 3D up charge. In its first weekend alone, the film is almost halfway to the first movie’s $302 million worldwide earnings, so it’s easy to see why the studio might be eager to immediately green light a third film. »
