Skyfall has emerged triumphant at the 2013 Jameson Empire Awards.

The 23rd James Bond instalment grabbed the 'Best Film' accolade at tonight's (March 24) ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, with Sam Mendes also beating Christopher Nolan, Jj Abrams, Peter Jackson and Quentin Tarantino to the 'Best Director' award.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey also took home two awards after winning in the 'Best Science Fiction/Fantasy' category, while its lead Martin Freeman was named 'Best Actor'.

Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence was crowned 'Best Actress' for her role in The Hunger Games, and Tom Holland and Samantha Barks were named 'Best Male Newcomer' and 'Best Female Newcomer' for their parts in The Impossible and Les Misérables respectively.

Seth MacFarlane's Ted won 'Best Comedy', with The Woman In Black being honoured in the 'Best Horror' category. The latter's star, Daniel Radcliffe, also picked up the 'Empire Hero' award.
