Stephen King 'The Shining' sequel 'Doctor Sleep' gets interactive cover
Stephen King has teased his return to the universe of The Shining with his upcoming novel Doctor Sleep

Publishers Hodder & Stoughton have made an animated, interactive and shareable version of the cover.

Doctor Sleep will be available in hardback, eBook and digital download on September 24.

"If you're looking for a return to balls-to-the-wall, keep-the-lights-on horror, get ready," King said in March 2012. "And don't say you weren't warned."

Written as a standalone story, the book finds Danny Torrence in middle age as he recovers from the events covered in the first novel.

"Following a childhood haunted by the time he spent with his parents at the Overlook Hotel, Dan Torrance has been drifting for decades, desperate to shed his father's legacy of despair, alcoholism, and violence," the publishers explain.

"Finally, he settles into a job at a nursing home in rural New Hampshire where his remnant 'shining' power provides the crucial final comfort to the dying.
