Disney's Oz The Great and Powerful starring James Franco won its second consecutive Friday at the box office without breaking a sweat. Newcomer The Call with Halle Berry surprisingly took second, while The Incredible Burt Wonderstone with comedy stars Jim Carrey and Steve Carell was anything but in a distance third place finish.

For its second Friday of release, Oz The Great and Powerful dipped 53 percent over its opening day to $11.4 million. Thus far the prequel has made $114.2 million at the domestic box office and should finish the weekend in the neighborhood of $35 to $40 million. A sequel script has already been ordered up.

The Call phoned up some Halle Berry fans and stole second place with $6.2 million. It was only in the past week or so that The Call was looking like it might finish second and not third, and sure enough it easily was the best new film this weekend. »
