Deadline reports that Fox is trying to get their film Exodus (based on the biblical story of Moses) into production quickly. The studio is developing the film with Ridley Scott and now they have decided that they want Christian Bale in the lead role. Talks with Bale are reportedly in early stages.

Bale, most widely known as the coarse-voiced Batman character in the recently completed Batman Trilogy, won an Oscar for his role as a drug-addicted ex-boxer in The Fighter (2010).

Another reason for Fox’s hastiness could be that the competing “Moses” project at Warner Bros., entitled Gods and Kings, has just lost its director. Steven Spielberg pulled out of the project recently and now Warner Bros is trying to sign Ang Lee (Brokeback MountainLife Of Pi) as his replacement.
