Today's batch of MPAA ratings are a little more lively than last week, beginning with an R-rating for Pedro Almodovar's high-flying, 30,000 feet in the air comedy I'm So Excited and Oblivion starring Tom Cruise, Olga Kurylenko and Morgan Freeman comes away with a PG-13. The most interesting to me is Ron Howard's Rush, the Formula 1 racing true story starring Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers) and Daniel Bruhl (Inglourious Basterds) as two of the greatest rivals the world has ever witnessed--handsome English playboy Hunt and his methodical, brilliant opponent, Lauda. I guess I expected a PG-13 studio film, but perhaps their going for something a little more edgy? Is that too much to surmise from a rating alone? Of course, it isn't as if Howard doesn't direct R-rated movies, but I don't really look back at the language in Frost/Nixon and think much of it and while The Missing was rated R for violence, »
