Looking to add more women to the team, Marvel Comics character 'Captain Marvel' (previously 'Ms. Marvel') could be added to the roster of superheroes in director Joss Whedon's developing Marvel Studios' 3D feature "The Avengers 2", providing the studio with an opportunity to market the 'Marvel' brand name as a character alongside 'Iron Man', 'Captain America', 'Hulk' and 'Thor'. 

'Carol Danvers' was initially featured as the cosmic 'Captain Marvel' in a 'false reality' created by mutant (and former 'Avenger') the 'Scarlet Witch', before negotiating a deal with 'Tony Stark' and 'S.H.I.E.L.D.', to lead a covert strike team called 'Operation: Lightning Storm', dedicated to the elimination of  'supervillains' before they could become unstoppable global threats.
