And so 2012 will be remembered as the year of the vengeful, unchained slave and the foul-mouthed CGI bear and you can thank Quentin Tarantino for the former and, naturally, Seth MacFarlane for the former and the MTV Movie Awards for pitting such dissimilar flicks against one another, and three more movies, in at least one category.

The 2013 MTV VMAs, as always represented with a Golden Popcorn trophy, were just announced and Tarantino's Oscar-winning bloody Django Unchained and MacFarlane's R-rated hit Ted about a man and his talking teddy bear both came out on top with seven nominations each, followed closely by David O. Russell's romantic-drama Silver Linings Playbook, which earned six nominations, including one for your girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence for Best Female Performance and one she shares with her co-star Bradley Cooper for Best On-Screen duo.
