Freema Agyeman has claimed that she will not be appearing in Doctor Who's 50th anniversary episode.

Agyeman played the Tenth Doctor's companion Martha Jones in Doctor Who's third series and has since returned for guest appearances.

The actress – who is now starring in The Carrie Diaries in the Us – took to Twitter on Sunday (March 3) to clarify her part in Doctor Who's anniversary celebrations.

"I'm contributing 2a programme for BBC America but not involved in the drama. Excited 2watch tho," Agyeman tweeted.

Agyeman went on to stress that she is not opposed to playing Martha Jones in Doctor Who in the future.

She teased: "Would I play Martha Jones again? : Yes - under the right circumstances ie character development opportunity."

Martha Jones was last seen tracking a rogue Sontaran with husband Mickey Smith (Noel Clarke) in Doctor Who's New Year's 2010 special 'The End of Time Part 2'. »
