Wardrobe items from Silver Linings Playbook, for which she won best actress Oscar, fetch $12,000 in bidding war

Clothes worn by Jennifer Lawrence while filming her Oscar-winning role in Silver Linings Playbook have sold for an impressive $12,000 at auction, confirming the young actor's newfound Hollywood cache.

A black Moda International coat, a pair of stretch white trousers worn during the climactic dance scene and a Gap sports bra were among the items going under the hammer in Los Angeles. The Moda coat took the highest individual figure of $4,652 (£3,100), while a blue long-sleeved shirt sold for $3,175 (£2,100).

"The whole world seems to be captivated by Jennifer Lawrence," Nate D Sanders of the Nate D Sanders auction house told the Hollywood Reporter. "We estimated that each of her wardrobe pieces would bring between $500 and $1,500, but what happened is that dozens of bidders from all over the world furiously bid against one another."
