While it’s true that we still have five more episodes of Season 3 of The Walking Dead to go, the gears of production are beginning to grind for Season 4. AMC is reporting that production begins on May 6 in Atlanta, just over two months from now. They’ve also announced a few promotions within the ranks.

As we told you in December, showrunner Glen Mazzara will not be returning for the next season, but as we told you in January, that position has been filled by writer and supervising producer Scott Gimple. AMC is now confirming that news, along with announcing the news that special effects god Greg Nicotero is rightfully being bumped up from producer to executive producer in the new season.
