Even though I wasn’t much of a fan of the recent horror blockbuster, there’s no doubting that Mama was a massive success.   The film cost $15 million to make and has already managed to make more than $70 million domestically in just six weeks.  That’s impressive to say the least.  The Hollywood Reporter is now revealing that Andy Muschietti will be directing a project for Universal entitled Bird Box.  It stems from a soon to be released book through Ecco (a Harper Collins imprint) written by Josh Malerman – who fronts the rock group The High Strung.  The story is being described as a mix between The Others and Children of Men and centers around “a blindfolded threesome comprised of a woman and two children who make their way down a river in a seemingly post-apocalyptic setting.” Universal is now looking for screenwriters for the project.
