According to Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, the recently revealed PlayStation 4 could employ multiple subscription options, offering different levels of service, similar to cable TV subscriptions.
"We could have gold, silver or platinum levels of membership, something like that," Yoshida says. "We can do subscription services when we have more content – especially now that we have the Gaikai technology available. With one subscription you have access to thousands of games – that's our dream," Yoshida tells The Guardian.
Millions of gamers subscribe to Xbox Live Gold, which costs $60 a year, but PlayStation has been praised by many for not forcing players to pay a subscription to access online services. This isn't necessarily a confirmation that multi-tier subscriptions are coming to PlayStation Network any time soon, but what if they did? What would you be willing to pay for?
