The Coen Brothers will rewrite Angelina Jolie's Unbroken.

Joel and Ethan Coen have signed on to work on the latest draft of Universal Picture's Laura Hillenbrand adaptation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 2010 book tells the true tale of World War II hero Lou Zamperini. The Olympic runner crashed in the Pacific in 1943.

After surviving for 47 days without food or water, he was captured by the Japanese and held for the next two years.

Francis Lawrence, who was announced as director in January 2011, was replaced by Jolie in December 2012.

Richard Lagravenese and William Nicholson provided the most recent draft of Unbroken.

The Coens' next feature Inside Llewyn Davis will arrive later in 2013.

Jolie made her feature film directorial debut in the 2011 movie In the Land of Blood and Honey. »
