1) Baffleck coming of age
The key acceptance speech of the evening came from Ben Affleck, as part of the producing team behind the best picture winner Argo. A man on a mission, for sure: he had been, bizarrely, shut out from the best director category, and in any case was on a very, very long road back from the humiliation of Gigli and the whole Bennifer thing. He proceeded, very quickly, to get very tired and emotional.
