Last week's episode of AMC's The Walking Dead pulled off an unexpected and blatantly deliberate case of "bait and switch." What seemed like a docile filler episode laced with character exposition erupted - literally - into a bloody firefight that set the stage for more fireworks between the prison and Woodbury to come.

Rick (Andrew Lincoln) has been wandering the prison's outskirts in search of ghost Lori where he hopes to find some sort of resolution, peace, direction, or all of the above. In doing so, he's let Hershel in on his mental state of mind and lit a fuse that could result in the rest of the group ousting him from power, much in the same way Rick once wanted to oust Shane for also "losing his mind and humanity."
