When you consider the fact that the movie came out just shortly after the Newtown, Connecticut shootings and opens with a sniper gunning down eight people in cold blood, it's not a big surprise that Jack Reacher under performed when it hit theaters in the U.S. back in December. Despite rather positive reviews, the film only managed to make $15 million in its opening weekend, taking second place behind The Hobbit, which was in theaters for its second week. By the end of its run the movie only managed to make $79 million domesically, which isn't great when you consider the $60 million production budget. But overseas Jack Reacher has somehow been the little engine that could.
