John Carter star Taylor Kitsch is in talks for a new horror-thriller called Exit 147.

The Battleship actor is being sought for the role of a sheriff in the serial killer movie, according to Bloody Disgusting.

Based on a screenplay by Pandorum writer Travis Milloy, Exit 147 follows a man driving across the desert at night who is arrested by a small town sheriff and held captive as part of his own sadistic game.

Red Riding's Julian Jarrold is attached to direct the project for Mandalay Vision, but a full cast is yet to be appointed.

Kitsch has two projects due for release this year. Action-thriller Lone Survivor is currently in post-production and filming is under way on The Grand Seduction, a comedy co-starring Brendan Gleeson.

A release date for Exit 147 is yet to be announced.
