Seth MacFarlane has quipped that he is preparing for his hosting role at the Oscars like he would for a school exam.

The Ted actor will be presenting the Academy Awards for the first time this weekend, following in the footsteps of Billy Crystal, David Letterman and Steve Martin.

MacFarlane opened up to E! News about his nerves overseeing the movie industry's biggest night.

"You know, [it's] just the same way you prep for the SATs," he teased, adding: "[I'll have] no prep and get a good night's sleep beforehand... No, I haven't had a good night's sleep in about five months."

MacFarlane also admitted that it will be difficult to please a crowd of Hollywood A-listers, who might not take well to being the butt of jokes.

"It's a different crowd. It's a very talented crowd, but it's also a very thin-skinned crowd," he explained. "It's always struck me as odd that »
