The nominees for Best Picture this year are hybrids, combinations of genres and styles: a little rom-com here, a dash of costume drama there, and a sprinkle of eighties sitcom way over there. Some, like Django Unchained, wear their mixture on their bloody sleeve, but for many of the nominees, it's much subtler. So we felt it best to break all these films down into pie charts to show their primary components. How much of Argo is a mid-budget adult thriller versus how much of it is Mrs. Doubtfire?
