A behind-the-scenes sneak peek of Star Trek Into Darkness has been released.

The 90-second featurette offers fans a glimpse of the upcoming action sequel as well as interviews with director Jj Abrams and cast members including Zachary Quinto.

Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty in the film, tweeted a link to the video that was uploaded onto YouTube earlier today (February 18).

The behind-the-scenes clip follows the unveiling of a new motion poster, which features a voiceover from Benedict Cumberbatch with a destroyed London as a backdrop.

Quinto, Pegg, Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, and Anton Yelchin all reprise their roles from 2009's Star Trek, while Cumberbatch, Alice Eve, Noel Clarke and Peter Weller are new additions to the cast.

Star Trek Into Darkness will open in cinemas on May 17.
