Chris Hemsworth and Michael Mann are teaming up for a new Legendary Pictures movie.

Mann (Public Enemy) is set to direct, while Thor and Rush actor Hemsworth has signed on for a starring role.

The feature film's plot is currently unknown, but is said to centre on cyber threats and attacks, Variety reports.

Details of Hemsworth's role are also scarce. The actor is free at the moment as Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse has been placed on indefinite hold.

Mann will not only direct the movie, but has also been working on the film's script with Morgan Davis Foehl (Mass Effect).

Mann will produce with Legendary's Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni, while Alex Garcia has also boarded the project as executive producer.

Although a production start date is yet to be confirmed, shooting is rumoured to be taking place from June, which would potentially allow Hemsworth to reunite with Rush director »
