David Ayer has signed on to helm Fury.

The End of Watch filmmaker will direct the World War II film from his own original script, reports Deadline.

Qed International has paid $1 million (£650,000) for the script.

The movie centres around the American crew of a tank called Fury as they fight a fierce battle with desperate Nazi forces in 1945.

Ayer has been working with Qed on the Arnold Schwarzenegger, Joe Manganiello and Sam Worthington-starring Ten, which will arrive on January 24, 2014.

Fury is scheduled to begin production in the autumn.
