William Shatner, who originated the role of James T. Kirk in 1966's Star Trek television series has made it no secret that he resents director J.J. Abrams for leaving him off screen when the director relaunched the franchise with 2009's Star Trek. The actor was not asked to return in Star Trek Into Darkness either. Now, J.J. Abrams is going to be the man behind the only other major sci-fi franchise that matters, directing Star Wars: Episode VII as part of a new trilogy.
