German filmmaker Mareike Wegener's art conspiracy documentary "Mark Lombardi: Death-Defying Acts of Art and Conspiracy," has been acquired for North American rights by Submarine Deluxe. The documentary examines the life, political conspiracy art, and sudden suicide of American Neo-Conceptual artist Mark Lombardi whose artwork predicted major events and scandals including 9/11. A theatrical release by is planned for later this year, with a DVD release on the Submarine Deluxe imprint to follow. The film goes beyond mere artistic praise and attempts to look closer at the man considered to be the Nostradamus of the art world. Known for his pencil drawings of intricate patterns that linked global finance and international terrorism, Lombardi's work revealed research on a variety of scandals, including the Bcci scandal in his drawing entitled "Bcci" which became an object of FBI investigation following the September 11 attacks.
